Help CIFHA, located in the historic neighborhood of La Boca in Buenos Aires, open its specialized photographic library and newspaper archive to researchers, students, artists, curators, and the public. With more than 4,500 books and 3,500 photography magazines, this collection needs support for staff time, cataloging, preservation, and guidance so it can be shared safely with the community.
Access to specialized resources on Argentine photography is limited, especially for people without university or institutional support. CIFHA's library and newspaper archive hold over 4,500 books and 3,500 magazines, but opening them to the public requires staff time, cataloging, and preservation. Charging users would create a barrier, while keeping access free without funding is unsustainable.
Donations will allow CIFHA to schedule regular consultation hours, assist visitors with research requests, organize and catalog books and magazines, purchase preservation supplies, and improve the consultation space. These actions will make the library and newspaper archive accessible while ensuring that materials are handled safely.
Over time, this project will give researchers, students, artists, educators, and the public free access to key resources on Argentine photography. It will support new research, exhibitions, publications, and educational projects while preserving books and magazines for future generations. By opening these materials safely, CIFHA will strengthen public access to Argentina's photographic memory.
