Dear Donor,
The recent Ebola outbreak confirmed in Uganda, along with ongoing risks in neighboring communities, presents a serious public health threat. As children prepare to begin the second school term, schools and shared community spaces risk becoming transmission hotspots if left unprotected. Across the Mwanyagiri community and beyond, many of our children attend school and interact daily in environments that lack basic infection prevention measures—exposing them, their families, and their teachers to unnecessary danger.
We are taking immediate, actionable steps. Our intervention focuses on providing three essential protective resources: hand washing stations, virus-effective detergents (including chlorine-based solutions and alcohol-based sanitizers), and small flexible water tanks to ensure a reliable clean water supply for hygiene. These items form a proven barrier against Ebola transmission via physical contact and contaminated surfaces.
Your financial support will enable us to deploy these resources effectively. Specifically, we will install hand washing points at school entrances, classroom clusters, latrine areas, and select community gathering spaces. We will train teachers, student health monitors, and community health volunteers on correct hand hygiene and detergent use. The small flexible water tanks—easily transportable, installable, and maintainable—will ensure continuous access to water even when piped supplies are interrupted, a frequent challenge in our area.
We are seeking funding to procure small flexible water tanks, a threemonth supply of detergents, and hand washing stands. Every donation directly contributes to safer learning environments and reduced transmission risk.
By donating, you are not only supplying materials but also protecting an entire generation of learners, enabling them to return to school safely, and shielding their families and the wider community from secondary Ebola spread. We will provide full accountability, including receipts, progress photographs, and a detailed expenditure report upon project completion.
We respectfully request your partnership. Together, we can make Mwanyagiri community and beyond a model for Ebola-safe living and learning.
