Overview
From February to May 2026, Japan Heart continued providing healthcare, education, and psychosocial support in Myanmar despite ongoing instability and post-earthquake challenges. Through specialized medical collaboration, Dream Train activities, and continued support for children’s growth and aspirations, we remained committed to delivering care, opportunity, and hope.
Key Updates & Achievements
Pediatric Surgical Collaboration in Myanmar (February 7 ,2026)
Japan Heart invited two pediatric surgeons to Myanmar’s largest pediatric hospital, where they worked with local teams to perform eight surgeries, including pediatric oncology cases. Former Japan Heart volunteer Dr. Keisuke Fukui returned to Myanmar as a specialist surgeon.
Achievement:
The project strengthened access to specialized pediatric surgical care and medical collaboration.
Dream Train Online Foster Family Exchange (February 25, 2026)
Dream Train held online exchange sessions connecting children with foster supporters across countries. Through conversations and personal updates, children and supporters shared meaningful moments despite ongoing challenges.
Achievement:
The exchange strengthened emotional connection and reassurance for children and supporters.
Football Exchange with Myanmar National Team Staff (March15, 2026)
Dream Train welcomed coaches and players from Myanmar’s national football programs for a special sports event. Children participated enthusiastically while exploring teamwork, confidence, and future possibilities through sport.
Achievement:
The event inspired motivation, confidence, and new aspirations among participants.
One Year After the Myanmar Earthquake (March 28, 2026)
One year after the earthquake, communities continue facing damaged infrastructure, insecurity, and economic hardship. Despite ongoing challenges, Japan Heart continues delivering healthcare services through Wachet Hospital.
Achievement:
Healthcare services remained available for patients in crisis-affected communities.
Dream Train Student Wins National Arts Competition (April 8, 2026)
Dream Train student Nay Moe Aung received a Special Award at Myanmar’s nationwide “SPACE MUSEUM Arts Competition 2026.” His achievement highlighted the importance of creative opportunities and supportive learning environments.
Achievement:
The recognition strengthened confidence and encouraged artistic development.
A Dream Train Graduate Begins a Journey to Japan (April 30, 2026)
Former Dream Train resident Boo See departed for Japan to pursue her long-term dream of becoming a nurse. After years of medical work and language study, she began the next stage of her professional journey.
Achievement:
Her journey demonstrated the impact of long-term educational and career support.
Dream Train Ordination Ceremony (May 19, 2026)
Dream Train held its annual Buddhist ordination ceremony, allowing children to participate in an important cultural and religious tradition. The event brought together children, staff, families, and community members.
Achievement:
The ceremony strengthened cultural identity, belonging, and emotional well-being.
