In many parts of eastern Nigeria, economic pressures and long-standing social norms can mean that girls' education is sometimes deprioritized when families are forced to make difficult financial decisions. With the rising cost of living, more parents are having to choose between basic household needs and keeping their daughters in school. This project invites donors to double their impact: every contribution will be matched,ensuring that girls can stay in school and complete their education.
Many girls in southeastern Nigeria are at risk of dropping out of secondary school because their families cannot afford education-related costs such as uniforms, books, examination fees, transportation, and boarding. Rising living expenses and financial hardship often force parents to make difficult choices, and girls' education is frequently affected. Without support, these girls face limited opportunities for further education, employment, and economic independence.
Power of Two will provide financial assistance to 50 girls attending public secondary schools in the Oraifite and Nnewi communities. Funds will cover school fees, learning materials, uniforms, examinations, transportation, and boarding support where needed. Every donation will be matched, doubling its value and helping more girls remain in school, complete their studies, and graduate successfully.
By helping girls stay in school and graduate, this project will create lasting benefits for students, families, and communities. Educated girls are more likely to pursue higher education, gain employment, increase their earning potential, and contribute to local development. The project will help break cycles of poverty, promote gender equality, and empower a new generation of young women to become leaders and changemakers.
