Lens on Life has been making remarkable impact across all programs. Young people effected by displacement, conflict, and incarceration in Iraqi Kurdistan, Jordan, Cameroon, Burundi, DR Congo and New York City continue to learn photography as a means of both earning income and healing trauma.
Students in Bujumbura, Burundi completed their first round of Canon SDG training, makring a critical step for this young program. In Cameroon, our facility was refurbished and just started a new class with refugees from Central African Republic, Chad, and Nigeria.
In the middle east, tensions are at an all time high, particularly in Kurdistan. Yet, our refugee students find solace and immense empowerement through the lens. Their personal projects which continued to be exhibited annually in the city of Sulimanya, are a testement to their depth, focus and desire to control their own narrative.
