Many rural children in Sri Lanka lack access to computers and digital education due to poverty and limited resources. Sathkara Social Service Foundation has operated two free IT labs in Kalutara and Angunakolapalassa for more than four years. During this time, over 500 students have used our labs. This project will help 200 vulnerable children gain digital skills, improve education, and prepare for brighter futures.
Many children in rural Sri Lanka cannot afford computers, internet access, or private IT classes. Limited digital resources create educational inequality and leave students behind in school and future employment opportunities. Children from low-income families face the greatest barriers, increasing the digital divide and reducing their chances of success in a technology-driven world.
Sathkara Social Service Foundation operates two IT labs in Kalutara and Angunakolapalassa and has provided free digital education for over four years. More than 500 students have already benefited. This project will strengthen and expand these labs by purchasing computers, furniture, and learning materials while supporting free IT training for 200 children in safe and supportive learning environments.
This project will improve digital literacy, confidence, and future opportunities for rural children. Access to computer education can improve school performance and prepare students for higher education and employment. By strengthening community IT labs and expanding access to technology, the project will reduce educational inequality and empower young people to build independent and successful lives.
