Weaving Voices empowers 20 women artisans in Kilifi County through digital storytelling, photography, and online market access. The project strengthens economic resilience, preserves cultural heritage, and promotes peacebuilding by amplifying women's voices and community dialogue. Activities include training, content creation, platform setup, outreach, and monitoring. The project aims to increase sales, improve digital skills, and build social cohesion.
Women artisans in Kilifi County face low incomes, limited market access, and weak digital visibility, even though they have valuable craft skills and cultural knowledge. Many rely on unstable local sales and cannot easily reach wider buyers. Their exclusion from digital platforms also limits their voice in community life and peacebuilding. The project directly benefits 20 women artisans and their households.
The project will train women artisans in digital literacy, storytelling, photography, and online marketing so they can present their products and personal stories professionally. It will set up an online platform to showcase their work, improve market access, and support sales growth. Community outreach and monitoring will strengthen visibility, inclusion, and peacebuilding while building long-term local ownership.
The project will increase women's income, strengthen cultural heritage, and build confidence in using digital tools. Over time, artisans will have stronger market linkages, greater economic resilience, and a sustainable platform for sharing their stories. It will also promote trust, dialogue, and social cohesion in Kilifi County, creating a scalable model that can be replicated in other communities.
