Difficult learning situation has lessened in Lalitpur district with educational aid provided after the earthquake. The earthquake had made a huge impact creating additional vulnerability in school environment and education system. With frequent earthquake shocks that added to the fear of school children, lack of classrooms and learning matierials had put students in a dilemma to whether or not to attend the school. But the problem did not last for long. 47 schools in 9 affected Village Development Committees (Dalchoki, Ikudol, Asrang, Bhattedada, Malta, Chaughare, Kaleshwor, Sankhu and Gimde) of southern Lalitpur were provided with teaching and learning materials.
With reference to the number of students in each classroom, copies, pens and pencils as well as whiteboards with additional markers, inks and dusters were provided. More than 2400 students have been benefitted by the support.
“Our destroyed buildings were replaced by new temporary learning centers”, said one of the teachers. “However the need for other basic teaching materials was equally indisputable. The support provided by ECCA proved to be a huge relief for us.”
Students of Shree Bag Bhairav School, Kaleswor study in their new building. The white board provided by ECCA / Globalgiving is being used.
