Twins Heading Back to Class
By Michelle Miller | Finance Director
![]()
This sweet set of twins has been on my mind a lot lately. Ali and Devon are orphans and are currently living with their grandmother. Ali started a new medications while Devon is having a difficult time finding the right combination of drugs. The struggle to get through each day healthier than the last keeps them from attending school, missing the last two terms. Villagers are currently helping them with food, understanding the importance of nutrition in keeping them well. Imagine a whole village becoming your family and supporting your dream to return to school. Ali and Devon are enrolled for the next term, counting on their village to get them back to where they need to be!
Everyone here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS, and our partners in Africa. thank you for your continued support of this important project. If you would like to learn even more about this project and others, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.

A Good Day for Ella
By Michelle Miller | Finance Director

Ella
Today was a good day for Ella. She woke up early to help her mother with breakfast and her mother was smiling! Her mother, Anna, was feeling good for the first time in more than two weeks. She wasn't out of bed much in that time, leaving Ella and her brother to care for their home and Anna. Their little garden was also watered as the children cared for the tender plants. It's hard for us to imagine this kind of responsibility for young children, but they have been living this life for several years with no other family to turn to for help.
After having breakfast with her mother, Ella left for school with her brother. They're both feeling strong and healthy so they feel good about their studies and can easily concentrate on new material. Ella scored the highest grade in the class on her mathematics exam. With a huge smile on her face, she tells us that we helped make this all possible by accepting her into the program. We in turn thank you, our generous donors, for helping Ella and her classmates succeed. Please know that you really do make a difference in the lives of these children!
Our teams here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS and our partners in Africa thank you for supporting this project and the work we do for the children in in our programs. If you would like to learn even more about what we do or how you can meet some of the children you have helped, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.

Fiona Dreams of Supporting her Mother and Siblings
By Michelle Miller | Finance Director
![]()
Fiona was enrolled in our program in December 2004 after being diagnosed HIV positive. She was born into a family of five children and her mother was also HIV positive so life was extremely challenging. Fiona's mother, Alice, felt hopeless and couldn't see a future for her daughter. After weeks of psychological help, Alica was able to move on and support Fiona in a positive way. Fiona has been a member of the junior and senior kid's clubs and currently she is a member of youth support group at the facility. Her siblings are her the best support system and their relationship is a great blessing.
Through the educational support given to Fiona, she is currently enrolled in a dress making course at the garment making college. She is in her final year and is grateful for your generosity and the support she has received to pursue her carreer. Fiona lives a positive life and she is driven to achieve the best. Her greatest wish is to see herself living a good life where she can help her mother and her siblings.
The team here at the American Foundation for Children with AIDS thanks you for supporting this project and the work we do for the children in Africa. As you start to make decisions regarding your end of year giving, please keep us in mind so we can continue our good work into 2018 and beyond. We wish you a new year full of many blessings and as much hope as you have shared with us. If you would like to learn even more about what we do or how you can meet some of the children you have helped, please contact Tanya Weaver at tweaver@AFCAids.org.
