Through this ongoing effort and as we await further support, our goal is to establish a tailoring skills training center in Kirimwa that will directly benefit 200 young girls. This initiative is being developed in close partnership with local leaders and the local religious center, uniting our communities around a shared mission: to eradicate child marriage and its devastating consequence—teenage motherhood.
Child marriage remains deeply rooted in economic vulnerability and lack of opportunity. When families see no viable future for their daughters, early marriage becomes a default survival mechanism, often leading to girls dropping out of school, becoming pregnant, and losing their childhood entirely. By tackling these root causes, the tailoring center will offer a sustainable alternative. Over a structured training period, each girl will learn professional sewing skills, fabric design, garment construction, and basic financial literacy. Upon completion, graduates will be equipped to start small businesses, join local cooperatives, or seek employment in the textile sector.
With the endorsement of local chiefs, elders, and the religious center, we are embedding this project into the moral and social fabric of Kirimwa. The religious center will provide space for training and mentorship sessions, while local leaders will help identify the most at-risk girls and monitor progress. Beyond vocational skills, the program will include life skills sessions on reproductive health, rights, and confidence building.
Together, we are not just teaching a trade—we are changing mindsets, preventing early pregnancies, and building a future where every girl can choose her own path. We now invite donors and partners to help us turn this vision into reality.
