How Your Impact Keeps Running

By Mel | Individual Giving Coordinator

We previously shared how your support brought clean water to SMAK St. Yosep High School. Today, two years after the taps were turned on, we want to show you how your generosity continues to change lives every single day.

Before this project, water was the school’s greatest daily hurdle. Students had to miss lessons three to four times a day just to haul heavy water buckets from a well 15 minutes away.

The heaviest burden fell on our female students. Without running water, keeping the toilets clean was impossible. For girls on their periods, managing basic hygiene safely and privately became an insurmountable barrier. Faced with intense anxiety and a lack of facilities, many girls chose to stay home, missing crucial days of school every single month.

Thanks to kind people like you, that barrier remains permanently broken.

Clean, running water still flows directly into the school toilets. Because of your support, managing periods with comfort, confidence, and total privacy is now the everyday standard. The monthly anxiety that used to keep girls trapped at home has vanished. For two full years, these young women have been able to stay in the classroom, learn alongside their peers, and focus on their futures without interruption.

GlobalGiving Water Access

Two Years of Growing Impact
By solving the water crisis, your support has unlocked lasting benefits across the school:

  1. Green Spaces: The school grounds remain vibrant, and teachers continue to grow sustainable food crops like corn, cassava, bananas, and vegetables.
  2. Financial Relief: For 24 months, the school hasn't had to spend its limited educational budget on commercial water trucks. Those funds now go directly toward the children's education.

When you supported this project, you didn't just install pipes and fill tanks for a moment. You invested in a sustainable future. Two years later, you are still handing valuable learning hours back to these students, permanently protecting the health and dignity of young women, and giving an entire school community the foundation they need to thrive for generations.

Thank you for making this lasting transformation possible!
