Activity plan and updates
To prevent trafficking and reduce the cases of human trafficking and unsafe migration in Makwanpur and Parsa district of Nepal, HIMRIGHTS has participated the Global Giving December accelerator to raise the funds for its purposed activities plan. We proposed various community level activities such as capacity building training programs, support to survivors and mass awareness activities focusing women, children and youth. From November to December 2017, we have only been able to raise US $ 2026 out of US $ 40,000 project goal from different donors. On December 27, 2017, we have received US$ 1297 to implement the activities in focus districts.
To implement the activities, we discussed the activities with our district staffs from Parsa and Makwanpur. Due to the limitation of budget in the first phase of project plan, we have decided to conduct mass awareness activities in Parsa (the border areas of Nepal and India). With the fund we are able to raise will install 3 Hording Boards and 3 wall graffitis in the main highway to India; with messages on prevention of trafficking with some artworks to make it attractive. Six messages be painted in the walls to create awareness in six different areas within March 2018.
In February 2018, our team visited various locations to identify the areas to install the hoarding boards and for graffiti painting to create awareness on human trafficking in Parsa. HIMRIGHTS has also discussed with local government and community on the implementation of the activities. They took it positively and said they would give the permission to conduct the activities.
Similarly, our team has also approached the paint companies to join the campaign and to support colors for wall paintings. We had to drop this idea as they were more interested in their visibility than supporting the campaign.
During January 2018, provincial and state level election took place so we could not do much work during this period.
HIMRIGHTS team indentified some places of Parsa for project activities.
