Dear Patrons,
Thank you very much for your generous support toward the Livestock for 200 Poor Families in Rwanda Project. We sincerely appreciate your commitment to improving the livelihoods of vulnerable households, and we are pleased to present this final progress report as of today.
The project aims to improve food security and income generation for poor families through livestock distribution, specifically pigs. So far, implementation activities have included procurement of pigs, transportation, and provision of feed to ensure proper care and survival of the animals provided to beneficiary families.
In collaboration with Burega Sector in Rulindo District, pigs were successfully donated to highly vulnerable households. The beneficiary families were identified by local authorities based on socio-economic vulnerability, particularly those classified under Ubudehe Category 1, representing families unable to meet their basic needs. During implementation, local leaders emphasized the high number of families still in need of similar support, highlighting the continued demand for expansion of the project.
To date, five (5) pigs have been distributed to five (5) families, while 195 families remain unassisted in order to fully achieve the project target of 200 families.
An important development in this reporting period is the establishment of collaboration with the Taba Community Empowerment Cooperative (TCEC). The cooperative has initiated construction of pig housing structures, which will strengthen animal welfare, improve sustainability, and enhance long-term project impact. RWAYDAVO plans to continue supporting this cooperative model, including future pig donations, alongside ongoing monitoring and follow-up to ensure proper management and accountability.
Despite these achievements, progress has been limited by insufficient resources, which has slowed the scale of implementation and reduced the number of beneficiaries reached. However, RWAYDAVO remains fully committed to continuing the project and mobilizing additional support to reach all intended families.
We respectfully request your continued partnership to enable expansion of this initiative and ensure that more vulnerable families benefit from livestock support. Your contribution remains essential in achieving the project’s full impact.
Once again, we sincerely thank you for your trust, generosity, and continued support.
With sincere appreciation,
Jean Damascene Uwizeyimana
President, RWAYDAVO
