Thank You for Supporting Women's Mental Health and Healing

By Yasmina | Project Leader

Dear Supporter,

Thank you for your continued support and belief in the strength and resilience of women affected by conflict and displacement. Your contribution is helping create safe spaces where women can begin to reconnect with themselves and their emotions.

On April 19th, sixteen women gathered in Daraya — some returning from displacement within Syria, others from conflict-affected areas — each carrying experiences and burdens often left unspoken.

The session began with a simple but powerful question: what does mental health truly mean for women living through these realities? Together, the group explored the understanding that mental health is not about always appearing strong or composed. It is about recognizing emotional struggles and knowing that seeking support is valid and necessary.

Participants discussed a wide range of emotions — joy, grief, anger, and fear — and reflected on the impact of suppressing these feelings over time. Through a practical exercise, each woman was invited to identify and write down what she was feeling in that moment, give those emotions a name, and rate their intensity.

For many participants, this was the first time they had consciously paused to acknowledge their emotions. For some, it was the first time anyone had asked them how they truly felt.

These moments of recognition and expression are small but meaningful steps toward healing, dignity, and emotional resilience.

Your support makes these sessions possible and reminds these women that their feelings, experiences, and voices matter.

With heartfelt appreciation,
