Thank You for Empowering Women Through Legal Awareness

By Yasmina | Project Leader

Dear Supporter,

Thank you for your continued generosity and commitment to standing beside women affected by detention and disappearance. Your support is helping transform uncertainty into knowledge, and fear into confidence.

On May 14th, the same group of 22 women returned for a second legal awareness session, building on the trust and momentum established during the first meeting. This session focused on the legal procedures surrounding missing persons cases — from filing an initial police report to understanding court rulings — explained in clear, accessible language.

The goal is simple but powerful: legal knowledge should not depend on having a lawyer present. Every woman deserves to understand her rights and navigate the legal system independently.

The discussion addressed urgent and recurring concerns shared by women across the program:

  • What rights do wives of detainees have while their husbands’ status remains unknown?
  • Can women manage property or legal matters without a death certificate?
  • What protections exist for children who were never officially registered?

Every question was met with clear and direct answers. None were dismissed or overlooked.

At the end of the session, participants also completed a final survey, adding 22 more voices to a growing research effort that spans all 34 sessions in this program. The findings will contribute to evidence-based advocacy that reaches far beyond these meetings — helping shape stronger protection and support for affected families.

Your support is making these conversations possible, and more importantly, making knowledge accessible to those who need it most.

With sincere gratitude,
