Quarterly Report: Child and Community Health in Los Altos de Chiapas (January - March 2026)

Introduction
We are pleased to share the achievements of our health project for Tsotsil indigenous children during the first quarter of 2026. Through the Sanando Heridas Clinic and our community outreach, we implemented four key strategies.

1. Children's Oral Health

  • Impact: Provided 83 dental consultations.
  • Beneficiaries: Served 62 children under the age of 14 both at the clinic and in their remote communities.

2. Nutrition and Holistic Health (Children 0 to 5 years old)
We monitored the general health and growth of 137 children through medical checkups, nutritional tracking, and family counseling on breastfeeding and healthy eating:

  • Reach: 81% (111 children) were treated directly in their communities, and 19% (26 children) at our San Cristóbal clinic.
  • Nutritional Status Breakdown:
    • Normal nutritional status: 108 consultations (65.1%)
    • Chronic malnutrition (stunting / low height for age): 57 consultations (34.3%)
    • Acute malnutrition (wasting / low weight for height): 1 consultation (0.6%)

3. Prenatal Care and Safe Motherhood

  • Impact: Conducted 108 prenatal checkups.
  • Beneficiaries: Supported 72 pregnant women in our clinic and local communities.
  • Key Achievement: 41.9% of these women began medical care during their first trimester of pregnancy, which is vital for preventing health complications.

4. Upcoming Strategy: Mental Health

  • Innovation: In March, we officially launched our mental health and psychological support services. We will share the first results in our next report.
