Disability is not Inability.

By ABI HENRY ACHAH | Program Coordinator

Report Title: Disability is Not Inability

HUFAC-CAMEROON is grateful to all donors and supporters of Project #68881: Empower People Living with Disability in Kumba, Cameroon. The project seeks to improve the lives of persons living with disabilities through vocational skills training, livelihood support, assistive devices, educational assistance, healthcare referrals, and community inclusion initiatives. Out of the total project goal of $85,000, we have so far received $164, representing approximately 0.19% of the required funding. Despite limited resources, HUFAC-CAMEROON has continued awareness activities promoting disability rights and social inclusion, identified vulnerable beneficiaries within Kumba and surrounding communities, and carried out preliminary assessments to determine priority needs. These efforts have directly and indirectly reached several persons living with disabilities and their families while laying the groundwork for larger-scale interventions.

Much still remains to be done. Approximately 99.81% of the project funding is still needed to provide vocational training opportunities, mobility aids, educational support, small business start-up assistance, psychosocial support services, and community advocacy programs for hundreds of vulnerable persons living with disabilities. We encourage our donors, partners, and friends to continue supporting this important cause and to participate in upcoming GlobalGiving fundraising opportunities, including the July Bonus Day Campaign, where eligible donations can receive matching funds and additional incentives, increasing the impact of every contribution. Together, we can prove that disability is not inability and help create a more inclusive and empowering future for people living with disabilities in Kumba, Cameroon. For more information about GlobalGiving's July Bonus Day and matching opportunities, visit the GlobalGiving website.
