Uganda Faces Rising Ebola Cases Amid Ongoing Response Efforts
Project Report Update
Uganda continues to strengthen its response to the ongoing Ebola outbreak as confirmed cases have risen to 19, with two reported deaths. Health authorities, together with local and international partners, are intensifying surveillance, contact tracing, community sensitization, and case management efforts to prevent further spread of the disease.
Reuters +1
The outbreak, caused by the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola, presents unique challenges because there is currently no licensed vaccine specifically approved for this strain. Early detection, isolation of cases, and community awareness remain the most effective tools for controlling transmission.
World Health Organization +1
Through our community networks, we continue to educate families about recognizing symptoms, reporting suspected cases, and following preventive measures. Our teams are also supporting vulnerable households with health information and referrals to appropriate medical facilities.
