Build 10 community Libraries for Rural communiti
By Henry Okumu | Project Leader
Mid-Year Progress and Achievements
As we reach the midpoint of project implementation, we are proud to share significant achievements made possible through your support. Several community libraries are now fully operational and serving hundreds of children and youth across rural communities.
The libraries have become vibrant learning spaces where children access books, receive academic support, participate in reading activities, and build important educational skills. Volunteer-led programs continue to encourage regular attendance and active engagement among young learners.
Feedback from schools and families has been overwhelmingly positive. Teachers report increased enthusiasm for reading, while parents appreciate having safe and productive environments where children can learn outside school hours.
The project has also strengthened community participation in education. Local leaders and volunteers are taking ownership of library operations and working together to ensure sustainability.
Although challenges remain, including the need for additional resources and expanded outreach, the progress achieved so far demonstrates the effectiveness of community-based educational initiatives.
We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to sharing further successes as we continue working toward our goal of establishing 10 fully equipped community libraries.

Building a Culture of Reading
The establishment of community libraries is helping create a stronger culture of reading across the target communities. Children, parents, teachers, and local leaders are increasingly recognizing the value of reading as a pathway to educational success and personal development.
Regular reading activities have encouraged children to spend more time engaging with books and less time in unproductive activities. Reading clubs continue to attract participants, and many children are demonstrating increased confidence when reading aloud and discussing stories.
Parents have shared encouraging feedback, noting that children are bringing books home and spending more time reading with family members. Teachers have also observed improvements in classroom participation and learning motivation among regular library users.
Creating a culture of reading requires consistent effort, community involvement, and access to quality resources. Through these libraries, children are developing habits that can benefit them throughout their lives.
We appreciate the continued support of our donors and partners who make this work possible. Together, we are nurturing a generation of readers, learners, and future leaders in rural communities.

Reaching Out-of-School Children
One of the most encouraging outcomes of this project has been the growing participation of out-of-school children in library activities. Many children who face barriers to formal education now have access to books, learning materials, and supportive spaces where they can continue developing important literacy and life skills.
Community volunteers have been actively reaching out to vulnerable children and encouraging them to visit the libraries. Reading sessions, storytelling activities, and educational games have created welcoming environments that attract children who may otherwise lack opportunities for learning.
Parents and caregivers have reported positive changes in children's attitudes toward education. Some children who previously showed little interest in learning are now visiting the libraries regularly and actively participating in activities.
The libraries are serving as centers of inclusion, ensuring that all children, regardless of their circumstances, have access to educational opportunities. This approach supports not only literacy development but also social inclusion and personal growth.
Thank you for helping us extend hope and learning opportunities to children who might otherwise be left behind. Your generosity is making a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable young people.
