Your Impact in May: Supporting 150 Orphaned Children in Northern Syria

Dear Donor

Thanks to the generosity of GlobalGiving donors, we were able to provide monthly financial sponsorships to 150 orphaned children living in displacement camps and vulnerable communities across northern Syria during the month of May.

For many of these children, the loss of a parent has been compounded by years of conflict, displacement, economic hardship, and limited access to basic services. The support provided through these sponsorships helped families meet essential needs such as food, clothing, hygiene supplies, medication, and other daily necessities.

Behind every sponsorship is a child facing extraordinary challenges. Many are being raised by widowed mothers or elderly relatives who struggle to provide for their families amid rising living costs and scarce employment opportunities. Your support offered more than financial assistance—it provided stability, dignity, and reassurance during a time of continued uncertainty.

The impact of your generosity extends beyond immediate relief. By helping caregivers cover basic expenses, these sponsorships allow children to remain in safer environments, continue their education when possible, and maintain hope for a brighter future.

Throughout May, your contributions directly reached 150 orphaned children, ensuring that some of the most vulnerable members of these communities were not left behind. Every donation helped ease the burden on families and reminded them that they are not facing these challenges alone.

Field Assessments in Northern Syria Camps

Amid the difficult humanitarian conditions faced by displaced families in the camps of northern Syria, our field teams continue to conduct comprehensive assessments and surveys aimed at identifying the most vulnerable households and ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those who need it most.

Our teams regularly visit camps and temporary settlements, conducting door-to-door assessments and collecting information about families’ living conditions, sources of income, household size, and special circumstances such as orphanhood, widowhood, disability, old age, and families that have lost their livelihoods entirely.

These assessment activities go beyond simple data collection. Our staff directly engage with families, verify humanitarian cases on the ground, and gain a deeper understanding of their daily challenges and urgent needs. This careful process helps ensure fairness, transparency, and accuracy when selecting beneficiaries for various humanitarian programs, including food assistance, cash support, orphan sponsorships, winterization projects, and emergency relief interventions.

Field assessments often involve significant challenges, including the vast geographic spread of camps, difficult access to remote locations, and the growing number of families requiring assistance. Despite these obstacles, our teams remain committed to reaching vulnerable households and ensuring that no family facing severe hardship is overlooked.

The generous support of our donors not only helps fund humanitarian assistance but also enables our teams to identify needs accurately and reach those who are most vulnerable. This ensures that available resources are directed where they can have the greatest impact.

Clean Water Brings Relief to Displaced Families in Al-Zaytoun Camp, Northern Gaza

Amid the worsening humanitarian crisis in northern Gaza, access to clean water has become one of the most urgent needs for displaced families living in camps and temporary shelters. With damaged infrastructure and limited access to safe water sources, families face daily challenges in obtaining water suitable for drinking and household use.

Thanks to your generous donations, our team was able to carry out a clean water distribution campaign for displaced Palestinian families in Al-Zaytoun Camp in northern Gaza, providing dozens of households with safe water and helping them meet one of their most essential daily needs.

This project served as a critical humanitarian response in an area suffering from a severe shortage of potable water. The distributed water helped reduce health risks associated with contaminated or unsafe water sources, particularly for children, elderly people, and individuals with medical conditions who are most vulnerable to waterborne illnesses.

During the distribution, our field team witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by displaced families and the relief expressed by beneficiaries. Many families emphasized that access to clean water is just as important as access to food and medicine. In an environment where even the most basic necessities are scarce, a supply of safe water becomes a vital means of protecting health and preserving human dignity.

This initiative goes beyond simply providing water. It helps protect families from diseases linked to unsafe water sources and strengthens their ability to cope with the difficult conditions they continue to endure.
